Edmontosaurus is a genus of saurolophine hadrosaurid which was found in the Arctic of Alaska. It contains the species Edmontosaurus regalis. Its name is derived from Inupiat, meaning 'Edmonton lizard'.
In the TV programme Edit
In the show, a herd of adult and juvenile Edmontosaurus was shown in Alaska, stalked by the local subspecies of Troodon - twice as big as their southern cousins. When night fell, the Troodon attacked the herd, separating one of the juveniles, before attacking it from all sides. An adult Edmontosaurus came to rescue it, driving away the theropods, killing one of them in the process, but in the morning the juvenile Edmontosaurus was dead, and the rest of the herd left it behind for the Troodon to eat.
A 2015 study refer to the Edmontosaurus that appear in this episode as a new genus Ugrunaaluk. However, a 2017 study from Hai Xing and colleagues, regard it as a nomen dubium indistinguishable from Edmontosaurus
